Tasting Experience

The Cruz de Alba Crianza has aromas of red fruits and ripe cherries with hints of licorice, wood and eucalyptus. The flavour is juicy and fresh with hints of raspberries and chocolate with a texture that is silky. The 2015 harvest was slightly ahead of the usual dates which enabled the harvest to take place at the optimal ripening time. The wines from 2015 are classified as excellent, have a good colour intensity, significant fruity notes on the nose and a high tannic potential in the mouth, with sweet tannins. The palate is tasty, fresh, with a marked wine sensation, leaving a silky warm and pleasant mid palate, and a long and persistent finish. Rating: ★★★★

The Cruz de Alba Winery

The Cruz de Alba winery was founded in 2003 with vineyards in the plots of Hoyales, near Penafiel, planted on terraces of limestone surface. Their wines are aged in barrels of French and American oak for 15 months and rests in the bottle for ten months.

The Ribera del Duero is one of the most important wine-growing areas in Spain and is located in Castilla y León and covers a part of the Duero river basin that is 115 kilometers long and 35 kilometers wide. The Ribera del Duero region is characterized by having dry summers, long, cold winters and a moderate annual rainfall. One of the differential features of the area is the temperature differences between the summer day and night, this will help a perfect maturation of the grape and an excellent harvest quality in autumn. The main variety or grape in the region is Tempranillo and also other varieties include Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Garnacha Tinta and Malbec.
